manual transfer music

My manual transfer to iphone from itunes (mac) used to work but now I try to drag my albums to my iphone and it would not let me, has anything changed? thanks?

See the Add items to your device manually section of Sync iTunes content on Mac with your devices - Apple Support. Or are you running Catalina or later? Newer version of macOS are much less suited to manual management of content. Drag and drop should get things on, but deleting is difficult and editing metadata or playlists is no longer supported. Sync with selected playlists instead.
