I need to delete the books application
As others have stated, the Books application cannot be officially deleted. Even if you could, it takes up a nominal amount of space unused.
If you just want to remove the app from the Dock, right click it and select Options > Remove from Dock.
If you need more space, try the steps here - Free up storage space on your Mac - Apple Support

I understand that you don't use the Books app and that you want to remove it. However, doing so would remove very little space from your Mac's drive. Regardless, not all apps can be simply removed. Again, have you tried the steps in the support article you arrived here from?
Here it is again, for reference: Uninstall apps on your Mac - Apple Support
The support article you came here from should provide you with the steps needed to try to resolve this issue. Have you tried them all yet? If so, and they didn't help, I suggest that you contact Apple Support directly. To do so, simply
select the "Support" link in the lower left-hand side of this forum's web page.

There is no supported means to delete apps that are installed as part of macOS, as the built-in apps are protected.
The unsupported and not-recommended means is to disable system integrity protection, and try deleting again.
you cannot delete apps that are bundled with macOS. and if you are trying to free up space, deleting most apps will not free up much space anyways. the books app, for example, only takes up 44.7 MB of space.
Thank you. Unfortunately, I don’t use the Books application. There’s no way I can remove it from my hard drive. 😕
Hello,
