How to disable the align-with-word-boundary behavior of text input cursor?

iOS has this fancy but clumsy way of positioning the text input cursor, which requires the user to press and hold the text in order to bring up the "loupe" that allows precise positioning of the cursor. A single click, on the other hand, aligns the cursor with a word boundary. A big downside to this workflow is that in order to position the cursor arbitrarily, I need to wait for a long-press to register. This introduces a delay and is inconvenient.

How do I configure the iPhone so that single-clicking in a text-edit area moves the cursor to the point of click, rather than get aligned with the word boundary?

iPhone 13 mini, iOS 16
