Turned off ask to buy but still not allowing download of app

I turned off ask to purchase on my son phone but it’s still telling him to ask. I am trying this because when he asked I would not get a notification. What else should I do?

Hi Bvetter77

Seems the "Related Article" above your question hasn't helped you troubleshoot.

If it seems that the device you turned off "Ask to Buy" on hasn't registered the change:

Try restarting the device. That often updates / puts things back in order.

Else:

Wondering if your turned "Ask to Buy" off on all devices on which it was set up for use:

Eg: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy - Apple Support

says

"On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap your name.
  3. Tap Family Sharing.
  4. Tap your family member's name, then tap Ask to Buy. In iOS 15 or earlier, tap Ask to Buy then tap your family member's name.
  5. Turn on or off Require Purchase Approval".

Eg: See the article to turn off on Mac

or

Perhaps another person is also involved in Ask to Buy and also needs to turn it off.

You may have also have turned off in-app purchases entirely

eg: using Screen Time on your own device (or a child's device).

The young person's device could also be checked for restrictions:

Screen time may be preventing all purchases ...may not have been allowing for "Ask to Buy"

Eg: Prevent in-app purchases from the App Store - Apple Support

All the best :-)
