Apple messages for business error

I keep on getting a “message not delivered” error when I send messages to a company using the Apple Messages for Business. I am connected to the internet and yet still it won’t work. Do I need to be using iMessage in order to use Apple Messages for Business? Currently I have iMessage turned off, so maybe that’s the issue. Anyone know?
