two step authentication

How do I have the two-step authentication code only go to non-Apple phones? I don't want my kids Ipad to get the authentication code.

iPad, iPadOS 15

You can't specify. It goes to all trusted devices and telephone numbers set up for that Apple ID. However, if your kids are getting it then you have bigger worries. They should have their own IDs and not have access to your ID.

You may also wish to read the articles 'Two-factor authentication for Apple ID' ( Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support ) and 'Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication' ( Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication - Apple Support ). Various sections contain information that is useful in understanding about the trusted devices (an iPhone, iPad, or Mac that Apple knows is yours) system, and how to get a verification code on a trusted device or at a telephone number.

Note that two step is an older method. If you are truly still using two-step, see Two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
