Are you supposed to set up the family sharing app from Verizon and the IPhone version of it at same time?

When using smart family to limit a child’s phone do you have to set up iPhones version the same or Even at all

The following resource has more details on setting up and using Verizon Smart Family: How to Use Verizon Smart Family Per that resource, the only step related to the Screen Time feature, is setting up a restriction to prevent your child from being able to delete the Verizon Smart Family app from their device.
