How can I use my computer which runs Windows 10 to help fix my iPhone 8 after it failed to acknowledge my passcode?

How can I reset my iPhone with a computer if it needs the passcode to connect to it? Forgot the passcode to my iPhone XR. Apple Support says to put in recovery mode and wipe its data from a computer. Well how can I do that if the phone can’t be detected by iTunes or computer until I put in the passcode??
