Installed Ventura by mistake and changed my MBpro year

My little nephew played with my MACBOOKpro Late 2016 installing ventura just clicking away.

I cannot use anything newer than Mojave so I attempted to downgrade back.

Using the standard process SHIFT+OPTION+COMMAND+R after the rotating globe Instead of the macosSIERRA I expected to find I got (and was forced to install) CATALINA and pressing the apple info the computer (which I bought refurnished last year but was made in 2016) appeared to be as a MACBOOKPRO made in 2019.

However I decided to install Catalina to then downgrade back to Mojave.

The downgrade to Catalina took 2 days as in the middle of the process all the time a message told me there were errors in installing it and I had to press any key or wait a few moments to continue.

Eventually after trying and trying I managed to install it, and this is when the computer appeared as a 2019 machine and calling Apple I was told I needed to get my "real macbook pro" since this was made in 2019 as it appeared pressing the apple logo to get informations about the machine.

The serial number however didn't change and I indeed found out the machine wa made in 2016.

ANy hints?

Thanks

I put Ventura as a topic as this happened after installing it, but it my be a Catalina problem

Thanks Leroy for your kindness and time. I did already call Apple support, however I am in Europe and Apple (perhaps Apple Italy) uses various "assistants" and the ones from Albania in particular do not know what to do in general and in this specific case it all ended up with a fight.

Although even the computer serial number was changed in the process this assistant basically told me I was attempting to cheat her and I wasn't using the proper computer.

Eventually another assistant quite properly supported me and with is help I was able to create an external USB key and I was able to successfully reinstall Mojave in my machine.

Yet I have a question. In spite of what I read on the machine it still tells me it was a 2019 powerbookpro. I understand that machines made in 2019 came with Catalina or Maverick, hence using the standard SHIFT, OPTION,COMMAND + LETTER "R" process would only return the latest available System software, or the SysSoft the machine was made with.

In my simple opinion therefore, using an external USB key to install a System prior to the ones from 2019 shouldn't be possible. However I did succede installing Mojave.

Does it means that Installing Ventura something happened to my hardware (or I don't know where) which modified the data in my Powerbook as indeed I installed Mojave and is working very well so far?

While this is only a curiosity at this point I think it's an interesting issue.

I've been using macs since the Apple][ and in my basement I have perfectly working machines with their original systems and related system updates without any problem. This for machines until 2005, later they do not seem to be built as well as the previous ones.

The only time something similar with this Ventura disgrace happened with a MacPRO top of the line which I bought in 2007 and came with Leopard. After updating to Yosemite I was unable to downgrade to Snow Leopard again ....

Well that's all and thanks again for your time and Happy new year 2023 to you and the ones you care, from Italy.

Very Regards

Dan
