Text alerts and Apple Watch SE

So my wife got me an Apple Watch SE and when I started setup I was told I had to update my phone (13 pro) to 16.2. I did this and everything seemed to pair up nicely. I can’t quite remember but I think everything was working as it should, but the next day I noticed I didn’t get text alerts (and other alerts for some apps) on my phone anymore. Only on the watch.

the text would show on my Lock Screen when I’d look at my phone but it wasn’t dinging or vibrating on my phone.

after looking at all the settings only two things I could change would give me the alerts notifications on my phone again. 1. Turning off Bluetooth or 2. I’m the watch app changing allow notifications to send to Notification Center.

I Dont like either of these options because I want my Bluetooth on always and I want to get the alert notifications on my watch and my phone.

At some point in all of this my watch said it needed an update so it got updated to 9.2. But it’s still doing it.

anyone else run into this or know of a fix for this?
