Apple Vision Pro is now available in the U.S.

Dolby Atmos Not showing on Netflix App on the labels beside Ultra HD 4K.

Hello, does anyone know if Netflix on Apple TV doesn't label the tags correctly? For example, I have recently bought a Bose 900 soundbar and it has Dolby Atmos in it. My problem is when I'm watching a show/movie on Netflix on Apple TV 4k 4th Gen (2021), it doesn't display Dolby Atmos on the content, it shows Dolby Vision, on it. For example the F1 drive to survive is in Dolby Atmos. When I go to my Bose music app it does show that the sound is playing in Dolby Atmos. I'm wondering why it doesn't show the label correctly on Apple TV Netflix App. I currently have the 4th gen Apple TV 4K.

6 Underground Movie shows the labels correctly: Dolby Vision Dolby ATMOS. Some shows/movies are not correctly labeled.

Another example is that Dolby Atmos is shown on the TV's Netflix app when I'm watching a show/movie. This is strange that Apple is not displaying the correct labels on the app, it only shows Dolby Vision or Ultra HD 4K. I want the Apple to correctly show Dolby Atmos on the content as well.

I just want to know if this is an app glitch or some kind of issue on my end. But my Bose Music app does show It's playing in Dolby Atmos.

I spoke with Netflix technical support and they told me that it is indeed a labeling issue and that the application automatically plays Dolby Atmos as soon as it is available.

I fixed it finally so you need to delete the app not offload it, restart NOT factory restore and then download Netflix from the App Store. At first you will notice it doesn’t show anything for sound, but after a few minutes you will see atmos again and to check it start playing a movie and hold down the home button then click on your speakers or airpods pro and you will see if says Atmos there. You can always test any movie or show by doing the same thing

Hi Rob,

the issue is not with netflix but Apple TV’s integration with TVos. As reported by many others in this thread such as Socal951, on TVos cersion 16.2 & 16.3 dolby atmos was functional.

updating to 16.4 has caused this issue.

as being an apple specialist you must also be aware that Netflix programs or our watch list are still not being synced with Apple TV list like disney or Prime video is.

netflix app for apple TV also lacks in new program (top 10) and categories section.

however all of this support is available on I-phone app.

given that netflix is the most used streaming service across the globe, on behalf of other I strongly urge you to please fix these issues to improve user experience.

after finally updating the Apple TV with HDR10+ codec, netflix is the last remaining black mark on ur device. Fix this and this will become the best smart TV device.

hope you will accept the feedback and produce results sooner rather than blaming netflix.

I am having this issue too. It is happening with my Apple TV 4K 2021 and the new 2022. It has been happening for a while though. Don’t know what changed. I used to see Dolby atmos on the majority of the titles and now I don’t, however if I use the Roku ultra it shows Dolby atmos. Sony X90CJ tv just in case it is needed and a Samsung Q800b soundbar

I followed the steps patricia226 says and I still only get 5.1. Last night all the Dolby Atmos movies were showing 5.1. I deleted the Netflix app and re-added it and Dolby Atmos ws back. I watched part of Blood and Gold in Dolby Atmos last night and today it was back to 5.1. I deleted the app multiple times and restarted the Apple 4k box. I did upgrade the os to 16.6 and still only 5.1. I called Netfix support and talked over an hour, of course having to check everything else but their app. Finally, the girl said thier technical team had no answer and to call back tomorrow to talk to the technical supervisor. Very frustrating since the Netfix app has been playing Dolby Atmos forever. I have 4 Apple 4K boxes and none now show Dolby Atmos. They are all running os 16.6.

Anybody have in answers on how to get Dolby Atmos working or is it a Netflix software issue?

This problem still persists. I have a Dolby Atmos TV and Dolby Atmos soundbar. On the latest Apple 4K TV I only get 5.1 audio labels for titles that had the Dolby Atmos before. Tried all the possible settings on TV, Apple TV, deletes, restarts, have premium account. Dolby Atmos works for all other streaming services. I've contacted Netflix support but abandoned my hopes when Netflix support required me to repeat all the chat conversations after the original conversation was lost due to the phone lock event. Nice support app for the year 2023, Netflix... The outcome was me canceling the subscription until this issue is fixed, the content was mostly boring to me, anyways. This is probably what all of us should do to achieve anything.

first I would like to inform you Dolby atmos isn’t going to make any difference on a soundbar it may have the Dolby atmos logo but that only means it’s up to date and can decode. To experience Dolby atmos you need the added in ceiling speakers so to experience Dolby atmos you need a set up of at least 5 speakers around you and at least 2 in the ceiling ( the im ceiling is the upgrade to this new surround sound we now have sound that can move above as well as all around) true story coming from an audiophile!!

I see the same thing on the Apple TV Netflix App. I search the title on my TV Netflix app and it shows me Dolby Atmos. The Netflix app on the Apple TV however just shows 5.1 on titles that have atmos. It might be playing in atmos it’s hard to tell with the Yamaha RXA8A receiver ( one flaw it has it’s about three steps to check using an online menu rather than just displaying it on screen like Pioneer ELITE would for example.

if you have a soundbar you are actually not experiencing Dolby atmos. The upgrade from Dolby digital or similar surround sound is the addition of sound being able to travel above you ( the atmos speakers you would need in the ceiling ) in addition to the 5 you may have all Around you. That is Dolby atmos. I have 7.2.2 system meaning I have 9 speakers all around 2 of them are in the ceiling and one step better would be to have 4 in the ceiling. That is Dolby atmos what you are hearing from your soundbar will be no different in atmos. That atmos logo just means it is up to date with the lates decoders 4k and atmos. My receiver is displaying pcm and the atmos speakers are engaged so it must be playing in atoms. However I still just play Netflix thru my tv more often because seeing the atmos logo in the Netflix app so better for my piece of mind and doesn’t leave me guessing lol
