Error 4013 when trying to restore iPad

Hi


I am trying to update/restore my daughters ipad via my MacBook which is updated with latest software but keep getting error code 4013. Have an appointment booked at the Apple Store today but does anyone have any other ideas to try?

Hmm. I’ve had times where it took 15 or 20 goes using Configurator 2 - Apple’s slightly more pro interfacing software that does the same in your instance and throws the same error messages and tantrums.


assuming given the lengths you’ve gone to you’ve tried a different network /internet connection, tried in safe mode etc etc


i really think both you and Daniel will find a quick fix with a genius appointment. Not that you e done anything wrong it sounds like you’ve followed the procedure to the letter. But the restore process is, well almost sentiently stubborn much of the time (most likely erring on the side of security which is no bad thing), but the one time I couldn’t get a restore working with that code Apple sorted it quickly in the store - and at no charge to me at least so I wouldn’t panic.


so do let us know how you get on but I have faith you’ll both get sorted :)

sorry to hear you have the same issue.


Unfortunately the iPad could not be updated or restored in the Apple Store yesterday, they think it developed a hardware issue. As I bought from

Argos and not direct from Apple they did not offer to replace, so new iPad it is. It’s a shame this didn’t happen a week ago then Santa 🎅🏻 could have brought one for her but never mind, these things happen. Good luck with your appointment, I hope yours is fixable.

Hey Jo, I am in the same situation. Today my daughters iPad began to display the Apple logo/black screen. I tried to do the update/restore and it gave me the error code 4013. It seems to attempt to apply the update/restore but the iPad screen switches from the restore/update to the Apple logo and I get the 4013 message again. I contacted Apple, they walked me through every possible solution. I even brought it in to the local Apple service provider and they were not able to remedy the situation. I am waiting until Sunday 1 January 2023 for my Genius bar appointment. Hopefully they can solve this issue, if not it might be $250 to "fix" the iPad. Let me know how your situation goes.
