Is optical flow necessary for high to low frame rates?

While using FCP, I set the project to 24fps to be cinematic and I film in 30fps or 60fps to have smoother footage. Do I need to set the project to optical flow for smoother content (since it's filmed at a higher frame rate) or can I just import the footage into the project and let it be? Meaning, import 30fps or 60 fps into the 24fps project and it will be fine without setting optical flow.

Thanks,

Joe

You can apply optical flow to frame conform if necessary, though it is more processor intensive and might slow you down depending on the system. It also might not be at all necessary depending on the content.

Just as an aside the whole 24 cinematic look is really garbage. The frame rate doesn’t make it cinematic, the lighting and the camera control does.
