Ear tip fit test failing numerous times

After updating my iPhone to the latest iOS (16.2), it seems my Airpod Pros (1st Generation. latest firmware) are now failing the ear tip fit test. Not once or twice, I've tried at least 12+ times and they've failed every single time.

I've tried new tips (medium and large), doing a hard reset on the Airpods, hard reset on my iPhone etc., but nothing works.

I bought these Airpods in April 2020 and Apple replaced them in the Summer of 2021 because they started getting a static crackling on them. They're out of warranty now, unfortunately, because I'm not sure if they're working as they should.

Any suggestions on this?

Hello daleinthe416,

Because everyone's ears are different, the Ear Tip Fit Test may not work for every person every time. If it is unable to automatically determine the best ear tip option for your ears, you'll just want to use the tips that feel most comfortable to you. The Ear Tip Fit Test is just an optional thing when pairing your AirPods, you can just skip past that screen in the setup and it will still allow you to use the AirPods.

Now are you actually having an audio issue with there AirPods currently? If so, you can try resetting them to see if that corrects the issue.

It's just weird though, I always had the test pass and there was a seal formed. Now, not so much, even with the large-size tips. My g/f is an audiologist and I ask her if it's possible my ear canal grew wider (this most likely didn't happen) and I'm stumped now as to why the test doesn't give me a pass.

The audio works fine but the noise cancellation might be an issue I think, I gotta see what happened in the last little while, I'm completely stumped.
