how to delete many text messages on a macbook

I'm trying to clean out texts in IMessage on my Macbook. There HAS to be a way to do it other than "Delete conversation" then delete for each one separately! I've seen to click Command or Shift to highlight multiple, but that doesn't work. Can anyone help??
