M1 Macs Intermittent Screen Black Out

So on my M1 Pro MacBook, My 'ole M1 mini, and my dad's new M1 mini I have encountered with three different HDMI cables and at least 3 different monitors intermittent blackouts with the screen (external monitor or TV with MacBook) that only last a few seconds. Usually the screen will work fine for a while (hours) and then the screen will go dark (turn off?) and come back on. At some point it becomes frequent and very annoying. I'm speculating, but the symptom is analogous to something like a hardware component that heats up over time and then has a thermal shutdown which cools the component, turns back on, and then heats up until it fails again. As if it is stuck within the hysteresis limits for thermal shutdown and thermal power on.

Looking online this seems to be a very common problem with suggested fixes but no solution. IMO it is quite likely that Apple has a defect in their hardware. But what would I know. I'm just an Electrical Engineer.
