Find my app: Colored Ring Meanings

What does it mean when there is a black ring around the contact’s icon and around the dot that shows where they are located in the find my app? (Black ring around blue circle). Also, why is the map with their location only visible SOMETIMES when clicking “info” in iMessages? When it is visible in iMessages, sometimes the black ring is present, but not present if the find my app is opened. Is it a fake location? Did they turn their location off to hide it from me? Is it their VPN?

Unknown can See my Location in Find My There is an unknown user in my Find My list of contacts that can see my location. When I try to delete (swipe left), the user erases and then reappears a few seconds later. Tapping on the user and tapping on "Stop sharing my location" does nothing. How do I stop sharing my location with this unknown number, which is "246-8"?

Inconsistency between Find My app and messages? Anyone else noticing an inconsistency between Find My (the app) and finding people in messages? (Like my family) For privacy I can’t post screenshots, but “not found” is now common in messages, whereas the person (or device) shows in Find My. They are completely out of sync too. This was a huge issue when we visited national parks and cell service was unavailable. Messages and calls did not go through- even SMS - so Find My was last resort.
