Microphone when MacBook closed

Hello,

I have noticed that when my MacBook Pro M1 Max is closed, the internal microphone doesn't work.

I have my MacBook attached to external monitors which is why I generally have it closed.

Thanks so much!!

Hello booragal,

Your Mac is designed to disable the microphone with the lid closed. This resource covers why: Hardware microphone disconnect – Apple Support

You will need to use an external microphone with the port mentioned in this resource to use microphone features: About the audio ports on Mac – Apple Support

The other option is a Bluetooth headset connected to your Mac: Use a Bluetooth headset with your Mac – Apple Support

Take care.
