Is there a message on the screen? Unavailable? Security Lock? Activation Lock? Something else?

Have you contacted a carrier to set up cellular service on the phone and choose a connection plan? Assuming that the phone is actually working OK, nothing is going to happen until you have cellular service set up on the phone.

It may be water under the bridge at this point, but you purchased a phone that is essentially obsolete. I would return the phone for a refund if possible and look for an iPhone 8 or higher from a reputable dealer.....not an individual.

The iPhone 6sPlus has reached the end of software support. The most current iOS version it can run, is iOs 15.7.1 and will not be able to update to iOS 16 or anything else. It may still get point updates for security patches for maybe 1 more year if that.

But yes that model is too old, and not a good purchase to have made if you except to use it for many years.
