AddressBookSourceSync process is at 100% CPU

AddressBookSourceSync process is at 100% CPU and my machine slows down slightly.

The machine is an intel based Mac running 11.7.2

killing the process works temporarily but the process starts back up again.

Are there other solutions that work well?

Cheers

I have an update to this and a fixture.

I upgrading the laptop to ventura 13.2 and the AddressBookSourceSync process still went up to 100% after turning on Contacts syncing in the cloud section.

Here is what I did to fix the issue:

1) turned off Contacts in my icloud settings.

2) Logged out of my Apple ID

3) Rebooted

4) logged back in to my Apple ID

5) turned on Contacts in my icloud settings.

CPU went up a little bit during the sync

but eventually the sync stopped and my addressbook has my icloud addresses.

It has been a few days and everything has been fine, and I have not even seen the AddressBookSourceSync when I check my activity monitor.

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?
