5G works with an eSIM the same way it does with a standard SIM. Of course, an iPhone 12 or later is required along with a 5G plan from your cellular carrier.

You can’t get 5G service on an iPhone XS. It is not a 5G compatible device. That requires an iPhone 12 or newer.
