I added money to my App Store account to download Minecraft but it didn’t let me

Do you mean you cannot download Minecraft after you add funds to your Apple ID balance?

• if you use your Apple ID balance, you need to set your Apple ID balance as your default payment.

If you update your payment method or add funds to your Apple ID balance, It would take about 1 to 3 business days in order to process.

so now I want to get the money back to my card but I can’t figure that out.

First check whether point 1. succeeds, for the next time you still need to use your Apple ID balance as your default payment.

Because if you want to make purchases or update / download apps, including free apps, you need to have a payment method on file.

If you have Apple ID balance you can't use.

You can't redeem or return Apple Gift Cards, App Store & iTunes Gift Cards or unused Apple ID balance for cash, except as required by law. If your jurisdiction allows the refund of redeemed gift balances, you can contact Apple Support to request a refund. 

When you contact Apple, include the following information:

•               Your Apple ID.

•               The refund amount.

•               Your current delivery address.
