importing to Pages

importing a text file, possible? I created a work in progress text file IN PAGES on my downstairs Apple laptop and then copied it to a Flash Drive thinking I could transfer a copy from the Flash Drive into Pages using my upstairs IMAC and continue working on it. Didn't work. Pages wouldn't take a "drag and drop" Can I do this or am I just doing it wrong? I could just keep it on my desktop but thought if I could put it into the program I created it on that it would be easy to find and work on there.

You cannot drag and drop an RTF or plain text file onto an open Pages document. However, if the Pages application icon is in your Dock, you can drag and drop either file type onto the Pages icon and it will then open it ( as a new document if one is already open). Same effect as if you right-clicked on the document and from the Open with menu, choose Pages.
