Import Data from Screenshot/ Image

Hi All,

I recently saw that Excel has added a feature to allow importing data directly from an image taken by a phone, in to a spreadsheet. Any idea on if a feature like that will be/ can be added directly in to numbers?

thanks

Hey BrianUp1,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. The feature you mentioned isn't a feature in Numbers currently. However, there are some resources and information below that might meet your needs depending on what it is you need to do.

Scan text and documents in Notes using the iPhone camera

Add scans, links, and other files to a Freeform board on iPad

Also, if you use Mac, check out this section of Add an image in Numbers on Mac.

"If you have your iPhone or iPad nearby, you can use it to take a photo or scan and insert the image directly into your spreadsheet on your Mac.

Note: To make sure your Mac, iPhone, or iPad supports this feature, see the Apple Support article System requirements for Continuity.

  1. On the sheet where you want to add the photo or scan, click the Media button in the toolbar, then choose Take Photo or Scan Documents below your device name.
  2. On your iPhone or iPad, do one of the following:
    • Take a photo: Tap the Shutter button, then tap Use Photo (tap Retake to retake the photo).
    • Scan a document automatically: Position the spreadsheet in view of the camera to automatically capture the page, crop it, and correct its perspective. To insert the scan in your spreadsheet, tap Save.
    • Scan a page manually: Tap the Shutter button, then drag the frame to adjust the area you want to scan. Tap Keep Scan, then tap Save.

3. Drag the image to move it, or drag any selection handle to resize it in your spreadsheet."

If that's not quite what you're looking for, you can also send Apple any feedback or suggestion that you have for individual review from Product Feedback - Apple.

Take care.
