Apple mouse software

Is it possible to download mouse software from Apple (2004) onto new Macbook Air M2 (w/o installation disc)?

• I have a disc, but obviously can't install from the disc. Although, the mouse is showing under bluetooth for pairing, it's requesting a bluetooth pair number which I don't have.

Assuming I need to install the software to produce that number?

• I've explored Apple Developer (developer.apple.com) - but not sure what or where I should be looking.
