iPhoto Library is not supported

Just set up new iMac, but in Photos I get the message "The library version 'iPhoto Library' is not supported. It can be opened with macOS Monterey (version 12) or earlier." So is it possible to use my MacBook Air which has macOS Monterey, convert iPhoto library to Photos, then export to new iMac which has macOS Ventura? I'm desperate to keep over a decade's worth of curated Events from iPhoto.
