I had problems transferring from an iPhone X to a new 14 Pro Max. In my case, it was because I had updated the X to the most up-to-date iOS, but the new 14 (supplied direct from Apple) had been configured to an earlier iOS version when it was `born’. An expert at an Apple Store sorted this out for me via a laptop. Could this be your problem too?
