How do I find the number of items in my Trash?
Once...there was a 'Get info' option, but it does not seem
to be there anymore. I typed 'get info' into the Search
box....and not a strange looking list of 'more system' data?

Get Info on the Trash works for me. And, I really need to take out the Trash.
If you open the Trash and enable "Show Status Bar" in the View menu, you will see the number of items for every Finder window.

Try Finder>View>Show Status Bar
If you experiment a bit with the menus in programs, you might find what you seek. We are trying to help you. You seem a bit petulant.
"Tone" can be hard to manage online, as I know from my own blunders in that arena.
Adjust the Finder preferences so that when you open the Trash, you see a window like this. The number of items is at the bottom.
Why is it important to know the Size of what is contained in the Trash ?
Are we referring to the Trash in the folder at the end of the Dock ?
Are we referring to the Trash in the folder in Apple Mail ?
Are we referring to the Trash in the folder of Photos Application ?

OK.. how about you tell me HOW to ‘adjust’ Finder? THAT would then be an ‘answer’.
