I am however unable to see the new drive so unable to install the OS -

How are you attempting to do the install?

Did you format the drive??

The internal SSD isn't a user serviceable component, so any unauthorized attempt may fail.

to be really honest I don’t know how !!

i thought I could do that through the recovery command- R option
