File Vault Disk Encryption

I am using set-up and on a Mac Studio and got to the FileVault Disk Encryption which has been running now almost 24 hours since I foolishly clicked the yes button. It is not running in the background so I can use the computer as I read on-line. I cannot use the back or continue buttons. Is it stopping the process when the Studio Display goes to sleep? Do I need to sit here and keep waking the screen? Will I ever be able to use my new computer or will I forever see the little gray dashes go round and round?

how to resume encryption in fileVault I'm about to update the latest version macOS monterey but I may not install this volume because its currently encrypted. so I went to fileVault and encryption is pause connect to power adapter to resume encryption. how can I fix this? I badly need help!!
