tmobile sync up watch for kids

I have a T-Mobile kids sync up watch the phone number associated with the watch may need to be deregistered from iMessages. We are only receiving text message from a few people in our contacts list. T-Mobile representative suggested we de-register iMessages. I’ve entered the phone number of the watch and it replies by saying it will send you a code where are they sending the code to?

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities danesurus,

The phone number associated with an Apple Watch, would be used for data only, and is not able to send and receive calls or SMS messages. An Apple Watch set up for a family member can be used to send iMessages to anyone using iMessage.

The following page provides information on the difference between iMessages and SMS messages: What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS?

For Apple Watch to send and receive messages and calls, they would need to be forwarded from a paired iPhone, and would use the number of that iPhone. Additional information on how this works is available, here: Forward SMS/MMS text messages from your iPhone to your Mac or iPad

We help this helps clarify things.
