Mac mini display incorrect monitor size in System Information

Hi,

I am using a Mac mini (Late 2014) with macOS Monterey 12.6.2.

I use LG 32UN500-W 4K monitor connected via HDMI.

Monitor runs at 4K 30Hz.

The issue is that when I open About This Mac > Display it claims that the display size is 61" when its actual size is 32".

Does anyone know why is this happening and how to fix it?

Thank you.

I'm not exactly sure what is happening there. Can you change the Refresh Rate: to 60Hz?

If not, then it could be the way the Mac mini is recognizing the display or the cable.

First thing, I would click on the Scaled button and try a different Resolution.

Second thing, I would replace the factory supplied LG cable with a short Premium Certified HDMI cable.

The issue is not unique to your 2014 MacMini or Monterrey.

The issue also exists on M1 Macs and Ventura.

I have an LG 27UP600 which is a 27", 4K display. I am running Ventura on an M1 Mac and it is reporting a display size of 32" instead of 27". Changing any display settings makes no difference, either on the Mac or the display. Also, the manner of connection doesn't change things either, HDMI or DisplayPort and HDMI via USB-C adapter.

So, either the display is reporting bad data or the Mac is interpreting incorrectly or a little of both.
