Live phone calls says I’ve just called them. NOT SPOOFING

This is strange! My husbands phone rings, he answers it and a “who’s on first” skit proceeds. The caller on the other end, a friend, says “no, you just called me”. He was not returning a missed call. Both parties phones rang and when they answered they got each other. Now it keeps happening over and over with different Numbers. Sometimes the same person. Our friend was the only contact on are end that this happened with, every other time it was random numbers. But our friend had it happen with multiple contacts of his contacts and random numbers. I am at a loss. When I search online all I get is spoofing…but this is different. He has also answered a call and received someone’s voicemail. Later in he’ll get a call saying “I missed a call from this #” note: different service providers; Verizon & TMobile

Hi DebFallOFD,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This is indeed a strange situation but there are some things that you can try, including resetting the network settings and also check for any carrier settings update. This may help to resolve the issue you're facing.

See: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

When a carrier settings update is available, you'll be prompted to install it. Installation takes less than one minute, and you can keep using your device normally. If your carrier releases a mandatory update, you'll see an OK button instead of an Update button to let you know that the update was downloaded and installed.

If you dismiss the installation notification, you can manually update carrier settings by following these steps:
1. Make sure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi or a cellular network.
2. Tap Settings > General > About.
3. Follow the onscreen instructions to install your carrier update.

If you're using iOS or iPadOS 15 or later, tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Keep in mind that this will reset Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

Keep us posted on the results.

Thanks.
