iPhone no longer backs up, backing up not available on menu

My iPhone 3GS is not backing up anymore when connected to my computer, the back up option is not available on the device menu.

How can I back it up, how can I have it restart backing up when the iPhone is connected to sync?

Lenovo Thinkpad T61, Windows XP Pro

Right click on your device when connected to iTunes and select backup.

I am bringing this one back up to the question list.

I have since upgraded to iTunes 10, and the phone WILL STILL NOT BACKUP.

Backup is NOT an option in the device menu. I need to back up the phone,

With your phone attached and iTunes open, what does appear when you right click on the name of the phone in the list on the left?

When connected, right clicking on the iPhone displays the following:

Eject
Sync
*Transfer Purchases*
*Restore From Backup*
*Reset Warnings*

That's all it displays

I have exactly the same situation - backup is not available as an option if I right click on my iPhone on the left menu. I get only the same options as sjradio.
How can we make backups?

Since this forum was of no help whatsoever, I did some other research myself and found a program called "Backup Switch" available at http://www.microseconds.com/

This worked and nothing here did.
