Unable to select 1000baseT for ethernet options

Hello,

Whenever I go to Network > USB 10/100/100 > Advanced > Hardware > Speed, I check off 1000baseT and hit OK and Apply. But it keeps auto-configuring/resetting to "autoselect" even though my Configure options are kept at "Manual".

My cable is CAT6, so I know it's supported.

Any known fixes?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.5

the cable is not enough, both the ethernet chip in the macbook and the switch / router you connect it with has to support it
