if the serial number is showing the correct device does that mean its original? And is it a problem that its not activated yet?

Thanks for posting here in Apple Support Communities. The serial number comes back as an Apple device. We'd suggest that you either contact the place of purchase or your carrier to get this sorted out concerning registering the iPad.
