Iphone 14 Pro max won't charge via magsafe unless I unplug the charger and plug it back in.

Hey, all. I have received the iPhone 14 Pro Max for Christmas, as well as a magsafe charger and an a/c to USB c adapter brick.

Essentially, the phone won't charge via the magsafe charger unless I unplug the charger and plug it back in. Other than that, it charges fine and it charges to full every time. It only happens if I take the phone off for more than a minute. If I take it off and put it right back on, it continues to work fine.

I'm on iOS 16.2 if that helps. I've seen on the internet a suggestion to restart the phone a d hard reset, and neither of those worked for me.

I am unsure of the brand of the A/C to USB C adapter, because it wasn't on the box. Could the adapter be the problem?

Should I try purchasing the apple adapter? Or is that not the problem? The magsafe charger is from Apple. I have two of whatever brand the adapter is.

Hi Jacobh2023,

Isolating the responsible component would be necessary to identify the source of the behavior that you're experiencing. If you have access to another MagSafe charger, testing your iPhone against that accessory would be a good step. Testing a different brand wall adapter may also help you identify the responsible factor. Per the MagSafe Charger Apple page:

"Recommended: 20W USB-C Power Adapter"

Test with a known good working 20W USB-C power adapter to see if yours are affecting the accessory performance.

Regards.
