find owner of lost airpods

Any gurus out there have advice?

Driving cross-country and stopped at a rest stop--sitting in parking lot was a charging case and pair of airpods. I could only guess whoever dropped them was long gone and probably didn't realize they were missing.

I've found the serial number (and the "name" they gave their airpods) and wondering if it's possible to find a way of connecting them back.
