Apple notes won’t convert to text

I can write in notes, using the pencil or marker, etc. When I switch to the pen function that we’re supposed to use for Scribble, it doesn’t even register that I’m writing. Nothing shows up at all. I have the new iPad Pro, there’s no compatibility issues.

Note taking in Apple Notes with pencil While I am in the middle of note taking with the Apple pencil. The notes go from being converted to typed notes in the notepad to a text box without me creating text box. This is a new issue in the past couple days. I notice a new arrow with a line too. This has continued even after updating and restarting the iPad. Is there any way to make stop this? Thanks!

I cannot write using my Apple Pencil in Notes I’ve tried to use my Apple Pencil to hand write to but cannot get the Markup button to show up. I can use the pen to annotate photos, pdfs, etc., but cannot in Notes. Is there a solution to this? (I am using IPadOS 16.1)

Have you checked whether Scribble is turned off by accident in your iPad settings > Apple pencil?

Make sure that your iPad is updated to the latest version and that 'English' is added in your keyboard settings.
