Hi my husbands phone has a cracked screen and water has just got in it. It now just shows a flashing Apple symbol. We are away and have limited resources to fix it what is the simplest thing we can do to try and get it working again ? Thanks so much !

You can try a force restart, but I wouldn't be too optimistic. Press and very quickly release the volume up button, press and very quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button for about twenty seconds. When the Apple logo appears, release the button. The timing is a little tricky, so try it a few times!
You have water damage, unfortunately there is no fixing it.
You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar to have it diagnosed but most likely it will need to be replaced.
