Random Noise

I’ve been noticing this noise for the last few months ever since the update. When I’m in either the Music App or IMessage app my phone will randomly make a “Duhdum” noise. I never have any notifications or anything so I’m unsure what’s causing it. I have noticed that it happens more often if I’m actively on an app and set my phone face down then it makes that sound. Do you have any ideas what it could be? It’s getting really annoying.

Hey there BreCampbell,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, do you recall if this sound started after installing any recent apps, after updating an app, or after updating the iOS?

If you go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and go through the tones for the different alerts shown here, are you able to find an alert tone that matches the sound you're hearing?

If not, it is possible that the sound you're hearing is coming from a third-party app. If you're not seeing any notifications or messages when the sound plays, you may need to take note of when the sound plays and what apps are open to narrow down what app is playing the sound.

We hope that's able to help.

Take care.

Hello BreCampbell,

Welcome back to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help further isolate the source of the issue.

Try further testing to isolate the sound to the Messages app or Music app.

Installing pending app updates can help resolve a software related app issue. Use these steps to check for updates: How to manually update apps on your Apple device - Apple Support

"How to manually update apps on your iPhone or iPad

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  3. Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to update only that app, or tap Update All."

To further isolate the issue, do you have any paired devices or Bluetooth headsets connected?

We hope this helps.

Cheers!

It didn’t notice it until after updating the iOS. I’ve gone through the sound & haptics and turned them on and off separately trying to see if it stops but it still seems to happen. I did go through all the alert sounds as well and none match. I even went through the notifications in settings to see if I had any apps that I turned notifications off on except sound and none do. It’s happens when the iMessage app is open as well as the Apple Music app those are the only two apps I’ve noticed it happening with.
