Hi Topcop,

We'll be glad to assist with your Find My issue with your AirTags. Since this seems to be isolated to your Mac, we'll need to make sure Find My has first been set up properly: Set up Find My on Mac

"Set up Find My Mac

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click [your name] at the top of the sidebar. If you don’t see your name, click Sign in with your Apple ID to enter your Apple ID or to create one.
  2. Click iCloud on the right.
  3. Click Find My Mac, click Turn On, then click Allow when asked to allow Find My Mac to use the location of your Mac.
  4. Click Done.
  5. If the Find My icon in iCloud settings has a warning badge , make sure you turned on Location Services and Find My in Privacy & Security settings.

"

Give that a try. If you still have issues, reach back out and we'll help you further.

Cheers.

Hey Topcop,

You mentioned that all of your other devices display in Find My correctly. We'd like to confirm that your MacBook Air displays correctly as well.

If it does, we recommend resetting the AirTag:

How to reset your AirTag - Apple Support

  1. Press down on the polished stainless steel battery cover of your AirTag and rotate counterclockwise until the cover stops rotating.
  2. Remove the cover and the battery.
  3. Replace the battery.
  4. Press down on the battery until you hear a sound. This sound means that the battery is connected.
  5. When the sound finishes, repeat the process four more times, removing and replacing the battery, then pressing down on the battery until you hear a sound. You should hear a sound each time you press on the battery, for a total of five sounds. The fifth sound is different from the previous four. This indicates that the AirTag is now ready to pair.
  6. Replace the cover by aligning the three tabs on the cover with the three slots on your AirTag.
  7. Press down on the cover.
  8. Rotate the cover clockwise until it stops rotating.

Then, pair the AirTag again: Set up your AirTag using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Let us know if this fixes what you see in Find My on your Mac.

Cheers!

Hi Topcop,

Thanks for verifying that information for us. Let's ensure that your Mac is not using a VPN network and if you have a third party security software installed, let's temporarily turn that off. From there, let's see if you're able to view the location of your AirTag.

Additionally, if you can update your Mac to the latest version of macOS, we recommend attempting the update. This can help provide software improvements that may help in this situation. Here's how:

Use Software Update
Before installing new software, it's a good idea to back up your Mac.

1. From the Apple menu  in the corner of your screen:
∙ Choose System Settings. Then click General in the sidebar, and Software Update on the right.
∙ Or choose System Preferences. Then click Software Update.

2. If Software Update finds new software, click the Update Now or Upgrade Now button to install it.
Software Update windowe

3. Enter your administrator password, if asked. During installation, your Mac might restart, and you might see a progress bar or blank screen several times.

If Software Update says that your Mac is up to date, then no new software is currently available for your Mac model. Software Update shows only updates and upgrades that are compatible with your Mac.

These steps are outlined in this article: Update macOS on Mac

If that doesn't help and you continue to experience the same behavior, we encourage for you to contact Apple Support. They can review this further for you. Here's the link to contact them: Apple - Get Support

Kind regards.

all settings appear to be correct on the MacBook.

All my other devices and people are showing locations correctly .

The air tag appears on the list of ' items ''.....and the map displays...but I get a circle and no icon on the map and on the left where the item is listed I says ''no location found'' and there is a spinning pointer ( is that the correct term i'm not sure )

All devices on my Apple ID are showing the full location of the tag . My MacBook has the tag in the list of “ items” but it says “ no location found “ and the map is blurred out on “find my “

I have removed and re-added the tag with no effect ,

I have removed the tag , reset it and re- added the tag with no effect.

I have even used one of my partners air tags - removed it from their Apple ID and the added it to mine - same results

Getting a bit fed up now … the tags were to be used on my kids bikes …. and they were to be tracked on my MacBook left powered up …..

looking on the web it appears to be an issue with Monterey os … updates causing glitches

if it isn’t sorted I’ll return the tags and get some other brand that works correctly

1) Macbook is up to date Monterey 12.6.2 - OS Ventura is not available for my MacBook ( 2017 model)

2) No third party software installed - only apple and apple apps via the App Store .

3) No security software installed - Only Apple Firewall. ( have turned it off to try and no difference - so switched back on )

I have two MacBooks ( as previously mentioned ) purchased at the same time and both running exact same software and OS...Both MacBooks are experiencing the same problem...So its looks like a Monterey / air tag compatibility issue to me ..Anyone else have the same problem ?
