Lost some of the phone numbers in my contacts after iOS 16.x update

Beginning with iOS 16.x I started losing some of the data in my contacts. The names exist, but the data and phone numbers are gone. I don't have iCloud backups. What can I do?

Hey Clifford117BRD,

If your contacts were being stored in an email account on your iPhone, if the account was removed, that would also remove Contact data. We'd recommend re-adding any accounts that may have been removed to see if that helps.

We'd also recommend checking to see what your default contacts account is set to. If you don't have a backup of your contacts, you may need to re-add them to get that information back.

You can find more information on managing contacts, as well as checking and adding Contacts accounts here: Manage and delete contacts on your iPhone or iPad

"Turn Contacts on or off for an account

Want to add or remove all of the contacts from an account that you already set up? Just turn Contacts on or off for that account:

  1. Go to Settings > Contacts > Accounts.
  2. Tap the account that has contacts that you want to add or remove.
  3. To add contacts, turn on Contacts. To remove contacts, turn off Contacts, then tap Delete from My iPhone."

Thanks!
