Hey Ruth4876,

We'd be happy to help out. It sounds like you're referring to your iPhone display locking sooner than expected.

If so, check your Auto-Lock settings. The lower this number is, the better battery life you'll have as it locks your iPhone's display automatically after a set time incase you forgot to lock it manually. We would recommend leaving this setting on 30 seconds for the best experience. It's unlikely this is the cause of your issue though if this is occurring just seconds after you finish typing. You can however still check your Auto-Lock settings by going to Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto-Lock.

Instead, it sounds like you're likely accidentally hitting the lock button on your iPhone. Perhaps if you have an accessory attached, try removing it and testing things out further.

If you continue to have unexpected behavior, try restarting your iPhone as well:

How to restart your iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later
1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears.
The volume button is located on the left side of the device, and the side button is located on the right

2. Drag the slider, then wait 30 seconds for your device to turn off. If your device is frozen or unresponsive, force restart your device.
3. To turn your device back on, press and hold the side button (on the right side of your iPhone) until you see the Apple logo.

We hope this helps out.

Take care!
