iPad wants my iPhone passcode!?!?

Under setttings it wants me to update Apple ID settings saying “some account services will not be available until you sign in again”. When I click on continue, a window pops ups asking for my iPhone passcode, not the iPad passcode. When I enter the passcode it tells me that the passcode is incorrect. I am entering the correct passcode for my iPhone. I’ve restarted both devices.

Why does it think the iPhone passcode is now incorrect when I’m using it to unlock the phone?

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you need help withApple ID and passcode issues. We completely understand why you'd reach out, and are happy to help.


Out of curiosity, did you try the iPad passcode? Just to see if it works? Have you changed passcodes on the iPhone? If so, have you tried the old passcode?


One thing that may help is updating the iPadOS if it's not completely updated. Some have reported success by doing so. Update iPadOS
