Apple Pencil not pairing

The condition of the Pencil tip will not interfere with pairing - but may significantly influence operation of the Pencil with the host iPad.

If the Pencil tip is visibly worn, it should be changed. Should you see any part of the metal transducer element, that is normally covered by the replaceable Pencil tip, you should not attempt to use the Pencil before changing the tip - as otherwise you may scratch or cause irreparable damage to the iPad screen.

As described, intermittent bluetooth connectivity that can be influenced by removal and replacement of the Pencil tip suggests a damaged Pencil.

The only remedy for a broken/damaged Pencil is total replacement. Other than the user-replaceable tip, an Apple Pencil has no serviceable parts.

If you are within Apple’s one-year limited warranty - and you still have proof of purchase - Apple may offer a replacement.

You might be best advised to visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to test and assess your iPad and Apple Pencil.
