Can I get a picture back if I deleted it?
iPhone 13, iOS 16
Hi there Aimee_Dixon,
Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities to get help with recovering pictures. Your options to do so will depend on which iOS version your device is using, and when the photos were deleted.
If you're using iOS 16, and the picture was deleted after you updated to iOS 16, you can check the Recently Deleted folder, as detailed in Delete photos on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support, below:
Recover deleted photos or videos
1. Open Photos and tap the Albums tab.
2. Tap the Recently Deleted album under Utilities.
3. In iOS 16, iPadOS 16.1, or later, use Face ID or Touch ID to unlock your Recently Deleted album.
4. Tap Select.
5. Select the photo or video that you want to keep and tap Recover. If you want to recover all the photos and videos in the album, tap Recover All.
6. Tap Recover Photo to confirm.
If you accidentally delete a photo or video, you have 30 days to get it back from your Recently Deleted album. When you recover photos and videos, they go back to your Library.

If you're not using iOS 16, or the picture was deleted before you updated to iOS 16, you might be able to recover the picture from a backup, if you were not using iCloud Photos: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support. Restoring a backup will replace everything currently on your device with only the information that was on the phone at the time of the backup. To avoid losing any new data added since that backup was created, we suggest making a new one first: Back up iPhone - Apple Support.
If you were using iCloud Photos, the pictures are not included in an iOS backup, as they are already being synced and stored in iCloud. This means that prior to the Recently Deleted folder being introduced in iOS 16, pictures deleted while using iCloud Photos can not be recovered.
Best!
