I am using the Accessibility functions on Monterey, and I can't find a way to hide the huge floating microphone icon which has Sleep written underneath it (aside from turning it off which defeats the purpose). It is getting in the way of viewing my screen contents while I am using it, and it would be great to hide it somehow.

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're referring to Voice Control. When Voice Control is enabled, you will see the microphone icon you mentioned. You cannot completely hide or remove it.
However, this guidance from Use Voice Control on your Mac may help.
When Voice Control is enabled, you see an onscreen microphone representing the mic selected in Voice Control preferences.
To pause Voice Control and stop it from from listening, say “Go to sleep” or click Sleep. To resume Voice Control, say or click “Wake up.”

Thanks, I have a better understanding of it now and why it is there but it would be great if it could be done from the top menu bar instead, it's so big :)
