Zoom CPU utilization killing MBP

Zoom causing abnormal high 200% cpu utilization, with kernel_task process at 1000%. This killing performance on 2019 MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.5 & Latest Zoom client for MacOS. The lag is so bad that windows cannot be moved and typing in notes lags by several seconds per character.

Any ideas what may be causing this? It seems to have started in late December.

Fixing Zoom hang Since upgrading to Ventura (now 13.1) and, more to the point, Zoom (now 5.12.9) Zoom hangs any time I have tried to open, unless I am in Safe Mode, where it appears to operate normally. I just did the Zoom update on the Zoom prompt to update, which yielded the error code others have seen in trying to update, but I got around that. However, it is now stuck. Restarting does not help. Removing and reinstalling the app (with Uninstaller Sensei to catch the stuff I otherwise would have missed) does not help. Turning off Hardware Acceleration in the app doesn't help. So Zoom has created a conflict where there was not one before. Is there an economical procedure to try to determine where that conflict is, that won't result in a day waiting for my Mac to reboot? Thanks in advance.

Zoom In/Out issues Occasionally, there is an irritating problem where the zoom function ceases to respond to finger movements. To resolve this, I must access the settings, deactivate the feature, then reactivate it to restore functionality. This issue occurred with my prior MacBook Pro from 2018, and persists with my current MacBook Air M2.

Pinch zoom on MacBook Pro unreliable with macOS Ventura Hey there :) Still have the issue with the pinch zoom that randomly doesn't work. From the previous thread "Pinch zoom on MacBook Pro unreliable with macOS Monterey", I have gathered some ideas and maybe seen a connection to a greater issue with the recent OS versions. So far what didn't help was: stopping the "dock" in the activity monitor turning the pinch zoom switch in the system settings on/off turning the tap to click switch in the system settings on/off One person wrote, that he could see the pinch zoom work on a different window behind the his active window within the same programm. Could that be the actual issue? I also experienced that depending on the program I'm using (firefox, adobe, sometimes even finder) "command+<" for changing tabs/active windows doesn't work properly or at least as unreliable as the pinch zoom. Might it be that not the pinch zoom or the trackpad is the issue but the window management of the OS or at least certain software when working with the OS? Hope this helps to look further into the still ongoing issue of this (pain in the a**) malfunctioning workflow.

Predicated on the provided information from the user " MacBook Pro with Big Sur 11.5 "

Big Sur version was released on Jul 23, 2021 Big Sur macOS 11.5 ( 20G71 )

There have been may updates to Big Sur since that time.

Many of them have brought Bug and Security fixes and maybe related to above issue
