Hello satish247,

As your Notes app is returning to the starting position when you change windows, if this is only happening in the Notes app, follow these steps If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

If this happens in multiple apps, review the steps in About iOS performance on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If you tried these tips and your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is still slow, contact Apple Support.

Same issues here and more. I have experienced the notes app returning to the starting position, handwriting latency (with dropped letters) and the device heating up with increased battery drain. This happens to me on both iPad Pro and iPad mini. I will start by saying that I am no expert, but I have noticed that it gets worse as the note gets bulkier (with links or attachments or tags). I thought I solved it for a week or two when I stopped using the built in tags within Notes, but it came back recently after I started attaching links to a note.

When it comes to the app dropping parts of letters when I draw them: again, not an expert but as a user it feels like the notes app is trying to clean up my handwriting - like it thinks my sloppy lines drawing the letter "F" must be a mistake and the app is helping me out be decluttering what it thought was an errant line or dot.

A few things I have tried:

  • Restarting the Device
  • Force closing the Notes app
  • Deleting the Notes App and reinstalling from iCloud
  • removing my screen protector and using for 1 week without
  • touching the side of the device to remove static electricity
  • cleaning/replacing the tip of the Apple Pencil Gen. 2
  • Turned off "Scribble" in the Apple Pencil settings

I never experienced this problem before updating to 16.2. I have used my iPads for these same tasks for many years prior. Only happens on my Notes app (Not Notability). Not going to lie it is a frustrating bug - but I'm rooting for Apple to figure it out. Please!

Same, the Apple Notes app for iPad (I’m on iPadOS 17.0.3) is really glitchy. Writing with lines on the page causes them to jump around, then disappear. Writing for more than a few minutes heats up the iPad and drains battery really quickly. Old notes won’t copy paste correctly, for example, when I cut them to paste them somewhere else, they past partially but not the whole Note. Undo isn’t working properly — when I go to undo, sometimes it ignores the last one or two things I did, and jumps back two or three things to start the Undo. Apple needs to do better — I have all my notes in Apple Notes, a native app!

After ANY iOS/iPadOS upgrade/update, you should ALWAYS perform a simple hard reset/forced restart of your Apple mobile device.

For iPad models with a Home button, do a simple hard reset/forced restart of your iPad by holding down both the Home and sleep/wake/power button simultaneously until your iPad goes to black and restarts with Apple logo, then release the buttons.

OR

For much newer design iPad models, without a Home button, try the new simple hard reset/forced restart procedure for the new 2018-2022 iPad Pros, 2020/21 iPad Air 4 and 5, the 2021 iPad Mini 6 and the new 2022, 10th gen base models,

1. Press and release the volume button closest to the top Power button

2. Then immediately ( and quickly ) press and release the volume button farthest from the top Power button.

3. Then, press and hold the top single sleep/wake/power button You will see the Slide to Power off button, but keep on holding down the power button until you see the Apple logo, then let it go.

Once you have performed all the steps, wait for a few seconds and your 2018-2022 iPad will boot up completely to the iPad’s Lock screen.

Tap, read and follow this Apple support link below.
